Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Right now I'm riding drops but I'm strangely intrigued by moustache bars (over emphasize "ache"). Maybe it's because I can't grow a full moustache. Maybe its my growing obsession with Hulk Hogan. Should I save up for a pair? Thoughts? Feelings? What can I expect?

An almost completely different ride.
Much more relaxed, upright, less aggressive.
get old cruiser style handlebars and flip them....then you get the best of both worlds moustaches style with some drop to them

i rode mustache bars for a minute and found , while very comfortable, to be hard to skid. they keep most of your weight on the saddle by their design. i don't know your bike set up, but if you ride without a brake, it will make things a bit more difficult.
regardless, they were a lot of fun to zip around town on, and i like the way the looked.

I tried them and was not very impressed. Good for short, nasty climbs though.

i love 'em. when i had them on my lotus track, it was like steering a porsche with a steering wheel from a bus! and i never had any trouble skidding with them. of course, then i saw the light, sold that bike, and put the 'stache bars back on my old trek 1x9 commuter where they belong.

oh yes. the "crustache". that's what i've done in the past. still good for climbing, but i can't speak for skidding as i was riding a singlespeed at the time.

Crustache sounds so much dirtier than it really is.

absolutely. I wish I was rocking bars like that just so I could say it more often.

clearly it's time for you to build a beater bike solely for that reason. i mean, did you really need an excuse?

haha. Might have to do it when I build myself a winter commuter this fall. I'm too poor to build another bike right now! Damn 3Rensho bankrupted me :D

That's it. I'm sold. Crustache. It should have limits though... like you can only have it if you can grow yourself a mean crustache. Once the fullness starts to come in... unacceptable.

Don't get me wrong, I know some awesome girls with some pretty sweet ones... most of my aunts and some friends. Damn. Probably shouldn't have said that but I'm way too lazy to press delete... multiple times. :) haha
