Looks like it takes a small front wheel. Forward sloping toptube from what I can see. I think it looks great. Almost inclined to buy it and slap on a 700c fork... but the seatpost would prolly be at an impossible angle then. Plus it must be heavy as a pig. Anyone know about the maker?

I think that bike looks cool as hell, although as you say it would probably be heavy. If you don't buy it could you let me know the guy's contact details?

It reminds me of the time I decided to build a workbench from every piece of scrap wood in the garage.

That's a very interesting frame!

I once tried to use a 700c in place of the 24" wheel. It felt very strange as if stress were being placed up front on the bike. It also made the bike ridiculously long.

Momentum and powerjb: I will PM you both the data of the seller if he agrees. Maybe you'll have to offer a bit more money ($80 is a ballpark figure anyway. If there's a lot of interest, it will prolly climb up. And, of course, the track/fixed scene is budding here just now, so lotsa people might be eager to get it, as hardly any frames are available here. I may even have remorse for assisting some lucky b*stard in track-rich England or US get it instead of a local rider.)
I'll ask the seller if he speaks English and translate if need be.

P.s.: That baines is one of the most disgusting, idiotic freak bikes I have ever seen.

How can you go down from that sort of crazy beauty to this abomination? That makes me want to cry. (And I thought the TT frame was heavy...)

I'd buy the OP bike and mount three rear brakes on the frame all connected to one brake handle.

The plot thickens... Measuring distances crudely on the image tells me that it takes identical wheels front and back. Anyway, I put a couple questions to the seller. Now away to watch snooker and sleep, more news in 12 hours' time.

there was a nice RIH track frame hanging in a shop here. at first glance it was normal looking, but on closer inspection it had the shortest chainstays i have ever seen. then, looking at the seat tube head on you realize that it is not one tube, but two! with about 20mm of room in between them. the extra room is so a tire can fit between the two seat tubes. RIH made some interesting frames.

RIH is dutch, made right here in Amsterdam if I'm not mistaken..

there's a shop on westerstraat in amsterdam. i went there the last time i was in amsterdam. old framebuilder who makes regular bikes too, track, road, etc. he said 1300 euros for a custom frame, 10 week wait.

That Baines is gorgeous. Stunning really.

I love the RIH as well. Would make for a very interesting ride. If anyone buys it... please put up your complete build after you are done with it. I am eager to see that ****.

I know what you mean about the track scene over there - I was talking to a bunch of Hungarian messengers over in Dublin about it. Sounds like there's quite a few messengers though. If you would rather the frame stayed local then that's cool.

So what name do messies know you by? I might have read about you on alleycat.hu... There was a bunch of crap about a Dublin alleycat recently if I'm not mistaken. It would be nice to link BF screen names to stories.

The Dublin alleycat was on St Patrick's day weekend - search for St Patrick's day massacre on here for more stories etc. It was an entire weekend of races, competitions and very heavy drinking in Dublin.

My name's Jon - but I am tall with red hair which may narrow it down. Any stories about me would most likely revolve around the enormous bike I ride. There's a photo in post 11 of this thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=183521&highlight=photo the wheels are 700c.

It seems that the RIH would probably be a bit small for me - it looked like the effective seat tube was a bit longer than 59 cm. I love the look of the bike though.

Wow, well if you do decide to ship it elsewhere, it's the perfect size for me. But i totally understand if you want to keep it local.

Everything is against my buying this. I'm not into TT frames that much, I categorically need a front brake, I am a weight weenie and don't even like steel that much. Just recently bought and built a frame I really like and don't really have the money. But it's so damn sexy that I at least play around with the idea now.

If you're interested, I can put you on the waiting list:D I'll wait a bit to give locals a chance to pick it up, but if it doesn' sell in a week or so, you can start making your offers;) Maybe I'll throw an email to the local messengers' website so they know about it.

It would be really interesting to know where this thing comes from. The seller has no idea, and there never was that much of a track culture here...

i had my eye on this for a while. I wouldve bought it but i think sizeing wouldve been too much of an issue. as would a yello bike.
