Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'll be on a maroon bike with drops, black grips. My lady's on a celeste bianchi. feel free to buy us a beer. Thanks

I don't live there anymore, but the guys on mission next to the vintage clothing store are awesome for mtb stuff, but not so much for fixed.
Dave's recycled bikes at the end of pacific is a cool shop too, but again, not so sure about fixed

the ucsc campus is beautiful, and has great fire trails through the redwoods (not so good for skinny tires), but ucsc's a hell of a climb from the city. alternatively you can throw your bike on the front of a bus. definitely ride up west cliff drive (easy and flat), and i recommend the disc golf course at delaveaga (also involves some climbing)

i went to college there, and miss it like hell. enjoy!

and +1 on delaviega. illest disc course i've ever played. no courses in nyc.

I'm a UCSC grad too. Go banana slugs!
I pedaled from the east side to campus every day, rain or shine.
Go by any bike store and snag a local bike map. There is some extraordinary riding in that area.

Well, I didn't find any "cool" shops. I did run into a dude at Bike Trip I remembered from Missing Link. I left Oakland before I saw people's posts for cool spots. I got a tattoo at staircase, then we went to the rush inn, then 99 bottles(quiz night, yo)... Wish I could come down and ride Sunday, but gotta do homework or I will soon be SFSU dropout. I'll be back down there plenty though...my partner's band is based there, they play and practice there. Ah, summer will be nice.

Nice, the ride up is short but intense, that's impressive that you rode every day. And on the way back you don't even need to pedal!
and twe, you'll find your turnout for alleycats is much higher if you tell people when and where to meet ;)

Oh, pssh. Yeah, this Sunday, 11 in the am, at the Hub for Sustainable Transportation. Also known as the Bike Church, 703 Pacific Ave at Spruce. 12 bucks goes straight to advocacy in Santa Cruz County, gets you a spokecard, raffle ticket, and some other cool free ****. 2 rides - 1 short (7 miles) and 1 long (35ish), the long ride was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, maybe a DFL.

It was a great time. Everyone had fun, and we had a great after-party with three awesome local bands. Woo hoo!
