Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Bareknuckle Vs. Raleigh Rush Hour Frame geometry

I am thinking about purchasing a bareknuckle frame via internet, but I need some help with the sizing. I am 5'4" and currently ride a 50 cm raleigh rush hour. According to the some threads posted on here earlier the bareknuckle frames run larger than most of their other bikes. I asked someone from trackstarnyc and the guy said that the frames are similar. Can anyone validate this? Anyones help is appreciated!

I've never ridden a rushhour but I've been on 2 bareknuckles within the last week and both felt awesome.

I just picked up a bare knuckle frame+fork yesterday, 50cm IM 5'6" and normally ride a 54cm on road bike geometry, the stand over on the BK barely touches my nads, dont know if this helps you any, but, anyhoo...

all the sizes of the rush hour have the same bb height but the cranks get longer, isn't that weird?

Yes, definitely order a size smaller (bareknuckle). I usually ride a 54/56cm, but after I've read the threads about the sizing, I purchased a 52cm and couldn't be happier.

anyone care to share standover height of their bareknuckle? and include the what width tires you're using too.

I usually ride a 54cm and a 50cm bareknuckle fit me.

I have about a 29.5 inseam. I think the consensus says to size down, now i just gotta find someone who carries the yellow in a 48cm. Thanks everyone!

yes this does help I i'm 5'4, the 50 cm just might work for me, but i guess that depends on how low your nads hang.

i'm 5'10" and i ride a 52 and it fits great. one of the things you should know about the bareknuckle is that the seat tube is sized center-to-center, so my 52cm is more like 53.5 center to top of seat tube measurement. the 52 also has a 54.5cm top tube, which is why i think many people find the frames to run large for their size. going by the seat tube measurement alone, you may find yourself stretched out too far on the bars because as the frames get smaller, the top tube lengths tend to be proportionally longer. i would suggest a 48. that would give you a 52cm top tube. compare that to your rush hour and determine whether you feel you need a longer or shorter reach to your bars. the seat tube size is less relevant because your seat post is easier to adjust than a stem/steerer tube length.

31.5" with 23c tires on my 52cm bareknuckle.

i dont know if you have yet, but consider overlap. my friend rides a 49-50cm bareknuckle and complains of massive overlap.

i cant compair the bareknuckle vs the rush, but vs my 03 khs flite100...

bareknuckle is stiffer, slightly lighter. im 6', my khs was a 57cm, my bareknuckle is a 54cm and fits me great. i think i have read that they are sized 3cm shorther than most other frames. so a if you normally ride a 57 get a 54, if you ride a 54 get a 51/50 or what ever sizes they come in.

i think the khs might have has a slightly higher top tube but i could be wrong. toe overlap is about the same on both, but geometry is diffrent. I had to shorten my chain when moving parts over to the bareknucle to keep it from being at the very end of the drop outs (or what ever track ends are properly called.)

if price is an issue, the bareknuckle frame is same price as the off the shelf rush hour.

i have not considered it, i think the bareknuckle comes in a 48 and 50 only. do you know which size he/she rides for sure? and how tall is this person? I already expericing some overlap with my 50 cm.

I have massive toe overlap on my bike (it'd almost be pedal overlap on a smaller frame), but I don't think it's something worth complaining about, exactly. Track bikes are going to have pretty short wheelbases, it's gotta come from somewhere. Such is the territory...

I think the top tube for the bareknuckle is 53 and the top tube on my bike is a 52.5 and i feel slightly cramped already.

in your original post you were talkin' about buying one of these frames from the internet....

you may want to make a field trip into town to a place that actually has some of these frames in stock.
where the can put some wheels in the dropouts and you can stand over the frame. It would probably be worth the day trip.

I usually ride a 56. I rode a friend's 54 and it was what I would describe as big.......

I do agree that bareknuckles run big, but i honestly dont think they run THAT big. as stated above, im 5 10 and my 54 fits great, and i always though i had fairly short legs. eh
