Triathlon - my poor chain/sprocket

i raced last week. i did the beach blast in mexico city. 4 th tri this year, won my age division and got 9th overall. feels awesoem to finally get soem reconition. anyway the only time it didtn rain was during the swim. ive never done a tri in the rain, it was miserbale but at the same time fun. anyway to get to my point, my chain sounds horrible from the water and the dirt that most likely got in from the trasition area and sky above. i finally was able to make it to the bike shop today to pick up some GT 85 and some prolink chain lube. This is my first road bike and i have a feeling i am going to have to do more then just spraying some of each on and walking away. how do you all clean your chain/sprocket when faced with conditions similar to mine?

Well dependent on the wheels he used. It would most likley drain out the hole for the valve.

Some American Classics and a few Mavics are known for holding water to the point of having to take the tire and tube off to drain.

i dont think i have water in my tires also. i caught a flat on the bike leg during the last mile, so i have a new tire in the front. the rear seems fine too. i have never had water in my tires so i wouldnt know what to look for. i just came from a ride and the tires, chain and sprocket are fine. the GT 85 and chain lube works great. I applied it while rotating the crank backwards. wipped off any outstanding visible dirt. let it sit for wa while. took it for a short test ride aorund the block while shifting thorugh all the gears. after that it seemed fine. today i went out for a 36 mile ride and it was as smooth as can be.

Just make sure you keep it good and lubed up. If you know its going to be a wet say, throw some specific wet lube on. Then after, let it get good and dry, then put more lube on to prevent rusting.
