First post here. I live in a small town on the Oregon coast. I'm an avid road cyclist and have been riding since my late 20s (I'm 53). I'm a former cycle commuter, but since I live 3 blocks from where I work now, it's not part of my daily routine anymore.
I enjoy multi-day supported tours like the Bicycle Tour of Colorado, Cycle Oregon, etc; single-day centuries and metric centuries; and just getting out for a good spin whenever I can. When I was younger I did a little racing, but I never got past Cat. 4 and was happy enough if I finished in the pack.
Even though I live 90 miles from one of the most cycling-friendly cities in the U.S. -- Eugene, OR -- about the only cyclists I see here are self-contained tourists doing the Oregon Coast from north to south on U.S. Highway 101. We get maybe 2 or 3 a day on average during the summer.
Looking forward to reading and participating here.
