On your shorter days, consider doing 1 recovery ride and 1 high intensity ride (intervals or mountains). On the longer days, it is probably best to keep the intensity down in the aerobic range so you don't over-train.

You say you're training for a big ride which apparently consists of back-to-back centuries. And you say you do two big rides on the weekend of 70 to 100 miles each.

To me it sounds like your weekly training regimen is just as hard, mileage wise, as the event you're training for. I think you'd be in great shape. Is there some particular aspect of this event that you're worried about? The only thing I'd advise is to think about giving your legs a bit of a rest in the last week or two before your event.

I ride less than that and tackle double centuries. This weekend I am doing between 90-150 (depending on the route) and I have not been on my bike for two weeks...

You are ready to take the challenge and defeat it.

if you know your body and how you react/recover to certain exertions then listen to it.
eat a ton of food during the long ride and keep your muscles fueled

You don't have to ride a lot during the week to be ready for back-to-back centuries. Just keep it regular (3-4 days a week), and keep doing the long rides on the weekends.

Have you considered commuting? Get a heavy old beater ... that'll give you a workout! :D

BTW - if you can do one century ... you can do two in a row.

I'd just re-emphasize a lot of what's already been said... for endurance, consistancy (at least 3-4 days a week) will pay better dividends than intensity. Don't neglect intensity, but be sure to allow yourself sufficient recovery. Do the long week-end back-to-back rides. It's not just about conditioning, it's also about logistics... learning what pace to ride, eating, drinking, and hours on a bike saddle. And, yeah, if you don't try to set the land speed record, if you can do one century, you can do two in a row.

May 14, our club is having a rondelleur. will be up in the mountains. I ride lots. Have reasonable strength w/o doing tons of mountain work. none the less. I am riding the flats like two days a week and hitting the cols three days in preparation. Cols. ? pretty steep.but, only like 1100 meters high. May 14- hope i have enough time.
Pretty important to not overtrain those cols. Give your muscles some relief with easier days.
