Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm flying Montreal to Toulouse next month with a bike (S&S equiped) in a hard case. Can I lock that case or is Canadian (or on the way back, French) security going to want to look inside? Could I use a TSA lock? I have a friend in the US who travels frequently to Europe with his bike and his hard case is almost always opened by TSA in the US so he just leaves it unlocked but I'm not sure what usually happens in Canada. Thanks!

What are carrying in there, the crown jewels?
I throw my bike in a transparent plastic bag at the airport and take one panniers as carry-on (with the expensive stuff in it) and I check the the other (the one with the alcohol stove).
At the other end I re-unite my bike and panniers, pump up the tires, straighten the bars and re-fit the pedals and ride off.
I used to box my bike, but what for? Where are you going to store the box? Are you going to drag it onto a train?
