Books, Movies, Music & Entertainment - Who else fast forwards all the Hobbit scenes in LofTR?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
We got the boxed set a year or so ago, and it's a great home theater movie, but I almost always fast forward any hobbit scenes. It helps cut the movie down so you can watch in an evening as well. I'm sure the die-hards would stone me, but how many Hobbits can you watch?

What's a Hobbit? Is it anything like an Ewok?

Yeah, I find them (hobbits) to be annoying little imps in the movie. The best part of Frodo and Samwise's journey was Smeagol (a former hobbit). Scenes involving the Riders of Rohan were the best (ie, Helms Deep in The Two Towers).
And why did it seem that they were the Irish of Middle Earth? :)

And the Uruk-kai were Maori.

Why not just skip the movie altogether?

Funny. This does seem to be a trend. My friend's little grandkid was watching a dvd and using the remote like he was playing a video game. He ended up freezing the machine and broke it from, as far as i can tell, pushing 2 or 3 buttons all at once. Someone I know who's a teacher brough some dvds for the last week of school and the 6th graders were also ff through the movies. ...I went to see the first LOTR movie at the theatre and that was about enough for me I just found it too ponderous and predictable. I actually think it's one of Peter Jackson's traits because King Kong was somewhat the same way though I did enjoy watching it more than the LOTR.
