Wow, so eloquent. Thanks for the helpful insight. :D
hahaha
yeah, they're pretty sweet. i feel like my feet stick to my pedals now, i just hope i don't ever slip on them. i usually have jeans on...that should help a little. maybe i can wear my soccer shin gauds.
they are concave. the pins form approximately a 3.5" X 3.5" square for more than 12sq. in.
you are supposed to be able to adjust free rotation a bit by the amount of grease you inject into the "pin" ports. haven't tried that yet. they were a huge improvement over my last pedals...but i guess they're probably not much better than any of the other modern ones out there. my old ones were probably pushing 13yrs in design/size. so you can all imagine how much i liked these!

Pedal bodies
The Syncros Mental Pedals are available in four configurations: investment cast Stainless Steel, investment cast CroMoly, Magnesium, and 6066 Alloy. The steel bodies have a lifetime warranty and are intended for hardcore, do anything applications. The lighter magnesium and alloy versions are competition oriented. All versions feature an ergonomically curved foot bed that maximizes pedal-foot contact.
Axles
Every Mental Pedal axle is made from SNCM CroMoly material. This is the hardest axle material available.
Bearings
The axle is supported by the most advanced pedal axle bearing system on the market. The main load is handled by a 12mm needle bearing. This is supplemented by a 20mm split bearing and 2 additional cartridge bearings.
Replacement Pins
The replacement traction pins are the most aggressive available anywhere. Leg armor is required equipment with these pins. Available in two lengths the pins are soccer cleat style and are replaced using a 6mm wrench (the same as your disc brakes). Don't slip a pedal without armor, these things will take meat. No joke.
Grease ports
On the Stainless and CroMo versions the pins located along the axle also function as grease ports. Remove the pins, recharge the axle with grease and you're good to go. Add more grease and you can control the amount of pedal rotation for no footers and stunts. The same can be accomplished on the mag and alloy versions by removing the end caps.
Serviceable
The complete pedal can be re-built. All bearings and small parts are available. Contact your local dealer for a list of available service kits
Warning
This pedal is designed for use with full leg protection and is intended for hardcore users only. DO NOT take this warning lightly.
