Kind of a noobie question but what can I say, gotta start somewhere right? So some how I cross threaded the drive side pedal on my pista, completly stripping out the threads on the crank arm once it came loose after rideing for a while. I figure this is a good reason to just go ahead and replace the whole crankset and bb. Problem is I can't find the specs anywhere as for the threading and sizing of the bb. Also any reccomendations for a decent crankset somewhere around $175-250 and i'm going to a square taper bb as well replacing the splined OEM one unless someone knows of a sutable crankset for this bb thats not ****. Thanks.

English threaded. The spindle length depends on your crank, not your frame.

It hurts to hear of so many good parts being murdered through improper installation... *sigh*

Decent crankset for $175-$250? Get the Sugino 75's if that money's burning a hole in your pocket. Jerk.
BTW, does anybody know of a decent car I could buy for $100,000? I'm a total newb... ;)

Sorry. Just asking because thats all the money I have and as long as i'm replacing the cranks I may as well do it right with something good. It's not like I have a ton of cash that I feel I have to spend right now. I just want to buy the best I can as long as I'm forced to replace something. I'd rather upgrade one good part at a time than a bunch of mid-range stuff at once. But thanks for the suggestion.

correct me if I'm wrong, but the '06 pista has ISIS Truvativ touro cranks, right?
if that's the case you have a 68x108mm ISIS BB.
the only ISIS track crankset I know of is the FSA vigorelli (well, there's also an OEM FSA carbon model)
so you could get a replacement touro (which is really a triple with the ring mounted on the inside) for $60-ish.
or a FSA vigorelli for ~$175. (but i think it's fugly and the old versions were known to suck)
or you're looking at a new BB + crank combo. Sugino 75 is in your price range - do a search, i thnkg mud sweat and gears has the best price. Miche would be a bit cheaper if you're willing to deal with 135 BCD rings (try ital-tecno). Don't get the stronglight.

No worries, just joking around. The 75 with a Shimano BB will probably serve you well for as long as you own your bike. The cranks go used for around $150 with a chainring.
