I heard about that huge storm, and I was sure we'd get it up here in Southern Quebec but it seems to have skipped over us. We have almost no snow since the last big storm melted. My sister in law just made it out of St Louis in time- the snow was just beginning to fall on Xmas eve day as they took off!

Yuckkie... lol... certain aren't gonna be riding your road bike.

I've decided to get a second set of wheels (nothing too extravagent... maybe in the $100-150 range). Just to have knobby tires on them. I'm too lazy to switch out my Armadillo Nimbus...

Was interesting going over the frozen bridges on the bike path this morning with those... kinda just slip and bump whereever the ice wants to take you.

I went for a ride with a buddy just before the storm hit in Ohio on Christmas Eve night. It was cold, but dry. What a surprise to get up on Christmas morning to 10 inches of snow in the back yard. They had over 2 feet at my buddy's house 12 miles east of me. So glad I made it out on a ride since the roads are now covered with salt, and ice. Time to hit the rollers this week.

Nope. I shoveled (3 times) for my exercise. It was a beautiful Christmas snow storm - very quiet.

I gota get the wheel of my beater bike fixed so I can ride in the snow. Looks like it gona be here for a while.

For years we flew the flag on national holidays. Since 9/11, we have had a flag out every day. That's our second flag since 9/11. we wore the first one out.

On our (one mile) road there are about 10 homes. After 9/11 all but 4 homes flew the flag. My wife and I bought a bunch of the smaller flags on sticks (about 2 ft high). We anomalously placed a flag next to the rural mail box of each home that didn't have a flag. Only one of the neighbors took it down. The rest kept them up and some moved them to a more prominent place.

10 homes on 1 mile of road. That must be real nice. Where we live we probably have 10 homes within 50 yards.

Yep, it's great. I love it. Most private properties are 5 to 10 acres in size. We are 4 miles from the nearest town or development . We live way back near the State Forest. It's mostly woods and fields.

I really should take up trail riding. I would guess that we have 50 miles of trails over 100 square miles of woods, that start a few hundred yards from our door.

On the back side - good jobs are 35 miles away - too far for bike commuting.
