Cannondale tandem still not here

So far two different ship dates have come and gone. Since it was a week past the last date I called the shop and was told they would call to check on it Monday. How long would you give them before calling it quits. I'm in the mood to go see what else may be in stock elsewhere.

Nothing is stopping you from going to look now. You'll likely find just what you want and be glad you did.

Why not call directly and ask if its been odered by your LBS

I tried to contact Cannondale and their reply was to have the lbs contact the rep. I might call them to see if I get any further than with e-mail.

The only thing stopping me from looking elsewhere is my wife, she really like the Cannondale.

I think that Cannondale might be in some financial difficulty. When that happens, manufacturers get caught up with suppliers not making timely deliveries so they can't complete and ship their production and get paid. Then the whole cycle repeats because they don't have any money. I'd get with my dealer and give them a drop dead date to either produce your bike, or return your deposit so that you can seek an alternate supplier.

Not to be hard nosed, but it's May. The reason you committed to buying that bike is so that you could enjoy it during the nice weather.

It's close to peak time for mfg's, the timeline screwup might be your LBS's or Cannondales, I bet your LBS is at more fault then Cannondale. I'm not sure how long you have waited, but I would check Monday and see what the LBS says, if it's a smaller shop they may have tried to combine orders, ask for a firm delivery date or the return of your check. I've not ordered a non-custom bike, but it seems like it took about 6 weeks to get my Trek MTB a few years ago.

This would really surprise me. Bicycle sales are at record highs and since Cannondale jetisoned their motor cycle products a few years ago, I understand they are doing quite well. What's your evidence? Like was said earlier, it's the peak season. Cminter, how long has it been on order?

We only ordered in March so the wait time isn't really the problem. I do have a problem with them telling me it would ship by April 21 and now they don't know and need to call again.

6 weeks is about the average, although we know of custom builders with a 2 year wait!

I think it took about 6 weeks to get ours - Ordered in mid-January & delivered early March.

The one we have is actually the 2nd one sent to the shop, as the first one had a big scratch & dent in one of the tubes. At the time of order in January the estimate was 3 to 4 weeks for delivery.

Remember that a lot of folks make purchases like this with tax return money, so you may be at the back end of that buying cycle. But that is no excuse for you LBS not taking care of you and getting you accurate info. It may not hurt to suggest to them that there are other folks selling bikes that would like your money.

So far we love the bike and have no regrets. Well worth the wait.

So the shop called back and said it will be here this week, maybe I jumped the gun.

Shop called back again and the bike showed up and is ready. Now I can say that the shop's service is great and that the delay was on Cannondale for shipping later than they said.
