I finally picked up my new Giant XTC2 and have spent the last hour removing stickers and reflectors. I'm considering removing the rear spoke protector as well. Is this a good idea? I know it can save your spokes if your derailleur get severly out of adjustment, but who has actually had their wheel saved by the spoke protector?

Last time I used a spokeguard, my derailleur just shattered it

Well they dont just put it on there for fun.
I say leave it, and if it smashes it smashes...its not going to hurt anything and it could save some spokes for you.

Not much dude...
Think my personality's played elsewhere:D
If you're a weight-weenie or give a crap about what the self-appointed cycle gods think take it off. If you could care less leave it on it's not hurting anything
