I was bringing my bike out to the trails yesterday with 2 other bikes on my rack, and one guys tire got caught on my lever, and pulled it away from the handlebars. Ive only just noticed it, but when you push the lever away from the bars and clicks into a different position, and clicks back with you squeeze the lever.
Is this normal? The only idea i have why it might do this is when you have the wheel off, you click it in to a "locked" position, so the pistons dont accidentally lock together if you squeeze the lever.
Is my precious juicy lever fine?

my juicy's do this too, not sure if its a quirk or an actual function of the lever, but it doesnt seem to be doing any damage, im always clicking them in and out when waiting for traffic lights, or waiting around, its like a nervous habbit now or somthing lol

yep, perfectly normal, and part of the design.
does two things. 1: as you said, you can have it out, and prevent accidental lever pull/piston movement when no wheel is in
2: avid claims it'll help in some crash situations, by popping the lever out that way, rather than breaking it off. this has actually happened to me. the lever popped forward. popped it back in place, no problems, no bending, no breakage.
