Was it a good one?
Its approaching the long awaited end for my junior year. This year has been a crap shoot and then some. 2 of my 5 classes are not so great. One puts me in a rotten mood because I cant stand the teacher, I've never had such a disliking for a guy before. Latin is just BS. I am no closer to getting to know myself than I was 1 year ago. In fact, perhaps farther from it! I've not performed very well academically, Im not failing or coming close to failing any classes, just not doing super well. Not as well as last year at least.
So All I can really do is look forward toward next year, which I hope will be better days.
How were other peoples senior years of highschool? Maybe this will give me some indication as what to look forward to
I'm still a sophomore, but my brother this year was a senior. His year was a breeze. Taking 5 classes, getting out at noon everyday, he picked up 2 jobs. He brought his backpack in probably 10 times from the car all year, and I have seen him do HW probably 3 times. Hopefully your senior year will go better for you.

Take an English class.
College is 20x worse, so get used to it now. Enjoy life while it is still simple; next comes the real world.
High school senior year was filled with huge emotions, a little much to talk about here though!

for what I can remember.. the only thing that stuck to my mind is walking on my boyfriend of 2 years cheating on me....ouch.. (bastard)That I really cleary remember more then passing highschool with high honors. But the best thing that came out of this is that he is now a known author and I recently read a book about his life and how messed up his life turned out to be..yes, even after all these years I took much pleasure reading about his misery.. ( evil laugh)

How were other peoples senior years of highschool?
Infinitely better than any of the previous 12 years of school. Some people actually start to act like adults then. There was a distinct difference in the atmosphere, and in people's behavior.

My senior year was the BEST! I ran up my absenses to the limit and stayed up all night once a week partying in Santa Cruz... surfing, beach bonfires, BBQs, etc. I had my pick of four generations of chics for the prom. Got a new car, went to a lot of concerts.
Took 4 AP classes and tests (english, chemistry, calculus & physics). Aside from the calculus and physics which were regular graded classes, the others were just prep-courses to pass the AP, so I didn't even need to go to them as long as I studied. Actually the physics was regular class, we didn't even have an AP class for that and I was the only one in the school to take the AP physics test. We had a senior Sneak Day which was just a field-trip to the Boardwalk in Santa Cruze, an all-day party! :) Also had a graduation party at school, put on by the faculty and parents. One wing of teh school became Monte Carlo with dance-club and casino, volleyball out in the quad, BBQ, etc.
Only problem was I had racked up all my absenses to the limit and on the 2nd to last week of school, I got sick for real! If missed one more day of school, I wouldn't graduate, so at 2pm, I crawled out of bed and showed up at my last class to just squeak in under the radar... heh, heh... :)
The only regret I had was not getting into Berkeley due to affirmative action. AA pegged the school's population to be comparable to the surrounding community. Since that was roughly 5% Asian and Berkeley was already 40% Asian, you'd needed some impossibly high GPA and SAT to get in. My younger brother, the valedictorian with 4.15GPA and 1380 SAT just barely got in... Actually it turned out pretty good, UCSB was a much more fun party-school than Berkeley anyway. I can't believe with the recent Gestapo-like police-crackdown and the completely dead scene that UCSB is now ranked as the #2 party-school in the nation...bizarre...

So far, it chews.
I still can't penetrate the cliques.
Not that I would want to, but it chews.
High school sucked the royal hose.

Stick with the Latin- it will help you more than you could ever imagine.

The cliques sort of melt away in senior year, as people realize there's life beyond high school cliques and castes.

E contrario.
But of couse, you were kidding. ;)
Senior year...shoot can I remember that far back? 1974...
The good? I had so many units, my senior year was basically taking classes I wanted to take...except for American Government. I could have graduated early but had no plans. Did quite well in a music solo competition. Auditioned for and was accepted for two honor bands and one honor orchestra.
No plans for college. Knew I had to work and earn some money first.
The bad? I handled a breakup with my girlfriend poorly. I still feel badly about it.
Enjoy your senior year!

I would suggest that you stick with the Latin. You will be amazed at how much it will help you in the future.
I pity people who tell me that high school was the best time in their lives. High school was a tough time for me 40 years ago and I know it has to be even tougher for kids today.
Senior year should be the best year of high school. You will be among the big dogs at school and you will have an attainable and short term goal: graduation. Many years ago one of my daughters had a terrible year in school emotionally due to us having to relocate. Over the summer she made up her mind to have a good year the next year. She told me, "I have just chosen to be happy and quit feeling sorry for myself."
Her attitude changed and it was reflected in the was she treated other people and how they treated her.

Well latin 1 was a great course, it changed the way I look at language forever. Latin 2 though has no culture, little vocabulary, few of the things I would hope for. Its all memorization of endings, participles. If anything else, I have no time to take it next year so I am done for good.

You gotta just kick back and enjoy the senior year. If you try to force the fun, it usually isn't as much fun. The coolest memories usually happen when you least expect or don't plan for them.
That being said.... Senior year is meant to be survived and enjoyed so that you can get the heck out of Dodge for the better fun of college in the Fall. And it doesn't matter what college you attend (if you are planning on college, that is....). Virtually any school has a scene for your interests, whether it's partying, researching, debating, writing for a paper, etc. And if they don't have a cycling club, you can take the initiative to start one up.
Dang.... I'd love to be 18 again and on the verge of that fun!
Tho' the class punching bag scene is a drag.

I managed to stay under the radar throughout most of highschool. Good and bad. Senior year went well, though. Spent it at a private school that actually held some value to education. Was also my toughest year of HS. Just relax and enjoy it. You're always going to have to deal with people you don't like working with, be it a boss or coworker, so you might as well learn now.
I am no closer to getting to know myself than I was 1 year ago. In fact, perhaps farther from it!
Heh. I didn't even start to get close to that until I was ~25 and had a couple years of living on my own under my belt. I'm still not as close as I'd like to be. All I can say about that is be patient, don't beat yourself up, and keep an open mind. It'll come sooner or later.

Wow...senior year. Digging back in the memory, the only thing that really stands out is graduation. I attended a small private school with self-motivated work and had skipped half of my sophomore and all of my junior year so had a lot of work to complete in one year. Once it was done, it was over and I was so happy and then went on to college.....when the work started all over again. *sigh*

Even though I wasn't a very popular kid, I thought my senior year was fun, well as much fun as school can be. I went to catholic high school with a lot of rules that I was finally able to work around, but as many rules as there were, we still a lot of freedom compared to public school in other ways.
I found college to be easier, especially not having to wake up at 6:30am every morning, no busy work, class once or twice a week, sometimes no class on fridays, and no freakin dress code...

Let's see...
I'll have to see if I can pull anything up from the dredges of my brain. After all, it was over 20 years ago.
Got along pretty well with my teachers. Cool.
I got asked to prom by a hot girl from my English class. Cool.
She insisted that I quit dating anyone else. Sucked, only because I had finally screwed up the courage to ask out another girl that I had a crush on, for two years.
She dumped me at our graduation ceremony. Sucked.
Too many nights out partying and playing gigs with my band seem to make most of my senior year kind of fuzzy.
As for the cliques. I'm afraid those may still be in place when you return for your ten year reunion.

I skipped my freshman year and still had enough credits to graduate midway through my senior year. Instead I split the small amount of classes I needed between the two halves of the year. I have no idea why I did that. Must have wanted to hang out with my friends. *shrugs*
All in all it was my best year of a crappy high school experience. Graduating made the whole thing worthwhile. Still have never been back to that school.

It was the year that I stopped letting bullies push me around. I was in trouble all year long for beating the crap out of them. I had enough, & quit putting up with it. Nobody gets away with it since.

I was a senior back in the days of the dinosaurs (the 70s). First of all, I attended college the summer between my junior and senior year, so it was really hard to come back to a structured and stupid high school after being "free" in college! Then, I went to Mexico the entire month of April. The school gave me all of my assignments for the entire 4 weeks I would be gone, which I finished on the WAY to Mexico and in the first day or two I was there, so I basically had a month-long vacation from high school. BUT, it was that much harder to come back in May and finish out the last few weeks of school!
I graduated on a Friday nite, and then started college on Monday morning. No rest for the weary!

One thing I did regret was not looking at what I could major in when I get to college while I was a senior. I could have probably finished college in 3.5 years, if not less, if I knew (that I like my current major) then what I know now.
I actually enjoyed junior year more. I was an upperclassman and on the varsity finally! We had a great sports year: in football I started at strong safety and we went 13 straight scoreless quarters; in basketball we made the playoffs and I got a lot of playing time as the third guard; in baseball I started at 3B and hit .345. And there was no pressure to choose a college; just take the classes and exams, and enjoy.

I am no closer to getting to know myself than I was 1 year ago.
My Senior Year was pretty good. I was still an ignorant dweeb without many friends, but the mid-teen emotional roller-coaster stuff was fading away by then.
"Knowing yourself" is a lifelong process; hopefully you will continue to grow and change throughout your life. Way too many of my peers are stuck in the 80s -- 80s music, their 80s accomplishments, etc. It's time to escape the impressions that were left in your teen years and move on.
Cliques -- every large gathering has them. Be confident in yourself and you won't even notice the cliques.

I could've graduated a year early so my Senior year was a blast. Took my first non-AP classes, got suspended, partied all the time and still got that full ride scholarship. I didn't think it could get any better but then WOW! College. College rocked. The party just never stopped. And then, to go one better, grad. school in New Orleans. Party Central, USA. What a great time. Maybe too much fun. Moved to T-Town, studied, worked and drank quite a bit of beer; managed to graduate and meet my wife. 11 years later the party is still going on. Only now I'm not riding Huffys and Diamondbacks but some real bling-bling bikes.
And in nine minutes it'll be 5 o'clock so I think I'm going to head on out of here. I'm a wild man.

My senior year was the best!!! Especially after all the college application BS was over. I was going out with friends all the time - drinking, dancing, partying :D My high school wasn't it the States though so there was no 21 and over crap. By the second semester most of the teachers left us alone, hardly anyone took attendance, so we skipped class and spent a lot of time just sitting outside in the sun talking or at coffee shops. We were also hanging out after school a lot. It was even better after prom, then all hell broke loose :p :p
