So, I was bored and figured that after a full winter of riding my road bike every day I would remove my cranks and botton bracket t osee how things look in there. I am riding a Lemond Fillmore which is sold with Bontrager Track cranks which are just rebadged Truvativ road cranks using the GXP bottom bracket interface.
I removed the non-drive side crank just fine with its self pulling bolt. Also removed the bearings/cup on the non-drive side. Figured that the drive-side crank would just pull right out, but it's not. Pulled pretty hard and could not get the drive crank to come free from the BB. So I thought that maybe if I removed the BB too. All this did was remove the entire thing, BB and drive-side crank arm/chainring.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I can feel that from being loose in there some grit has worked its way in so I do not want to just put it back together and ride it. I just can't figure out how to get it apart so I can clean the bearing race.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Included is the link for the manual as supplied by Truvativ online.
