Hi everyone!

Just got my license suspended.
So somehow I have to commute 15 miles (one way) using Los Angeles public transport, an oxymoron if I ever know one.

So my commute will consist of about 3 miles of cycling between busstops and the rest on the metro.

Just bought a MTB from walmart (please don't kill me), planning to put slicks on it an just ride it till the wheels fall off (3 weeks).:D

Anyways, great forum you guys got here, looking forward to contribute in the future.

Thomas.

Hey a bikes a bike. If it gets you where your going, thats what counts. Sorry to hear you lost your license. Hopefully high gas prices in LA make it suck a little less.

Thx.

Believe me, I'm already thinking about my next bike. And rest assured it won't be from walmart. :)

If you have to leave your bike out to achieve a transfer in the middle of your commute a Walmart bike is probably best. Get some tools and use the Park Tool and Sheldon Brown sites to ensure you have it set up right (spoke tension, brakes, gear shift and wheel bearings in particular), and it will last years. In a little while you wont need the bus and metro - good luck.
