Any tips for good energy providing food appreciated I always get 20 miles into my ride and then start "lagging off" I know bread and bananas can be quite good but can't really eat a lot of either!!! :D

For quick energy during fast paced rides try simple carbs that require minimal digestion( sugar or dextrose based energy formulas)such as gatorade,gels,fig/energy bars, honey or fruit.Prior to the ride to ensure your energy stores are topped up try complex carb based meals such as whole pasta, brown rice, oatmeal or maltridextrin based energy formulas/drinks.Don't forget to include some protein and fat with these meals as well.

I drink as much gatoraid as i can and some apple sauce before i go and gator aid while i ride.Longer rides i will take a cliff bar.All good for 15-30 miles.

On the ride- I take along my Cliff bar- cherry crabapple, one bottle of water, and for really tough rides- I fill another bottle with Cytomax.
What I like for recovery when I get home, either Endurox, if wiped out or a sandwich with a light coating of peanut butter, a sliced banana and a slight coating of honey. That gets me jezzed instead of asleep on the floor..
Oh, yes. If like climbing a real mountain- I am a big believer in energy gels. I think it gets me to the top..

Raisons are excellent energy boosters. You can get an 8-pack (8 small pocket sized boxes) at Walmart for a buck or two.
