hi. another newbie question. just got the cat eye wireless CC-CL200N, an improved version of the original CC-CL200. (that's what the manual says)

are the magnets supposed to chirp every time the wheel makes a revolution around the contact point? if this is right, does it bug anyone else that has a chirping cyclocomputer?

Sounds like the magnet is hitting (ever
so slightly) the sensor, try rotating the sensor
out a bit so its minimally further away from
the wheel.

magnet is not touching the sensor at all. there is almost a full centimeter clearance.

well that kills that theory!
I can't fathom why it would chirp in that case.
I'd suggest taking it to the LBS where you bought
the bike.

If it's wireless it might make sounds. My wireless mouse "chirps" when it has fresh batteries :D

The computers on all three of my bikes make a faint 'chirping' sound as the wheel magnet triggers the sensor. The quietest one makes a clicking, while the other two chirp or peep.

well i called cat eye customer service. spoke to a friendly guy named pat who explained to me that it's the circuitry in the sensor. he said that some of them do, and some of them don't. i should have asked if all of them do and whether or not it was a degree of audible detection thing. since my computer is working after 2 days of having it, and i don't hear it unless i'm spinning the wheel in a quiet apartment, i won't let the quality control issue bother me. especially since he offered to send me a new one if it was really bothering me and i felt like sending mine back to him.

anyway, broke it in yesterday with 30 quick miles. doing another 35 city miles today. hope there is less salty, gray slush on the road today.
