BMX - this is kinda off topic but.......

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

the cingular service and your telephone number are attached to the SIM.
if they deactivate a SIM it will no longer function. you could in theory put another SIM in the phone and it work.
If you are thinking about reporting a phone stolen and then getting service through someone else with another SIM you may want to reconsider.
Phones are locked to only allow service through them. So if you have a cingular phone it will only work with cingular SIMS. T-Mobile phones will only work with T-Mobile SIMS (unless you have an unlocked phone, which is unlikely).
I believe the ESID number of the phone is also tracked. I'm not sure about this or if it's possible to lock a particular phone out even if the SIM is swapped. Which I believe is what you are asking.

The battery in the phone is dead. Or the phone is broken.
A locked SIM card, or a locked ESID will not keep the phone from turning on.

Those are completely unrelated.

Straigh up.
I mean how many of us need Blackburries?
Not anyone on this part of the forum most likley...(unless you have a full time job or something)
I have *looks at cell phone box* a "LG VX3300", and i dont know what that means, but i do know that when i want to call someone or text someone, i can. And for me at least thats all i need with my phone.
Especially considering i dont even use it much.

Stfu. If you take a sim card from a crappy phone, such as kinetik's then it won't work.
If the phone he has is Bluetooth.

Yeah, i know my phone is crappy, but i would much rather i have nice bike, over some amazing phone.
How about we all just ride our god damn bikes and not worry about phones?
Why does it matter?

Amen. I have been through literally 5 phones. I hate worrying about losing or breaking my million dollar phone. So I don't get one.
