I want to get a longer stem reach on my DT so that I can stretch out a little more. I've learned a lot through the other threads, but I would appreciate any pics or info about mods on the head tube/stem/handlebars.
I am also wondering if anyone has added a rear cassette with 11-34. Would this be possible, or would I need to change the derailleur as well? Thanks!
First off, get a piece of 1.125" aluminum pipe, preferably .60 or thicker. About 10-12" length is enuf. Try www.onlinemetals.com.This replaces the original riser. Or, you could saw off the curved section of the original one. Next, a 1.125" threadless stem, length of yer choice. Bolt it up and yer done. Easy. I have a 120mm Zoom adjustable stem you can have really cheap, if you want. Let me know....

We have tested our bikes with Sunrace 9sp 11-32 cassettes with no problems. With a 46T front chainring you may find the 34 rear a bit low.

I'll attach a picture of what I did (mostly same as dkoz describes). Tube came from these guys (thanks to member hbob):

Search for product no. 03-37000. I got a foot and total with shipping was $6.90. I cut mine down to just under 10" but how long you want it will depend on how high you want your bars to be. You'll have to find something to fill the hole at the top. I used an old metal coaster meant for a table leg and a rubber shim.

Hey Guys,
Quick question regarding the thickness ... .60 what?
I am trying to figure out what wall thickness--that is, the difference between the OD and ID--to use for the Downtube Mini.
Cranky ... how long is your stem post and what thickness is it?
Any of the forum's engineers have an opinion of a minimum thickness for the stem post?
