Everytime we let the stray cat outside, my mom says she sees birds swoop down by her and try to peck her with their beaks. I had the cheap daisy red ryder untill it broke a yr ago, but im thinking about buying another one to scare the birds away. They could be mockingbirds, but thats our state bird and I dont want to get in trouble. My dads out of town and i cant remember if he had to get a license or something so i cant ask him. So if my mom and I go down to academy, will me need to have the license thing to purchase it or something like that?

Bring your mom just in case.

I doubt you'll need a license, as it is obviously for self-defense. :D

Check your state & local laws. In PA they're considered little more than toys, however in NJ they controled much as firearms.

My 2 cents- Keep the cat indoors. The local bird and other small wildlife populations have a hard enough time surviving without the presence of loose cats.

Souinds like the birds are nesting there and are just defending their territory. Wait 2-3 months and they will go away. Lordy, you just stated you intended to violate a state law ( harming wildlife ) so if I tell you just to get a sling-shot instead of a BB gun I would be guilty of conspiracy.:rolleyes: . Nailed a crow on the wing with some 00 guage buck-shot. After it fell shrieking for the sky (and recovered) the neighborhood flock stayed away for years. The cats' a stray, let it fend for itself. When I lived in the country my brother and I used shotguns on starlings for duck hunting practice.

You can also get toy guns that shoot rubber BBs or little plastic discs.
