Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well my bike isn't a Concorde persay. I just have a Concorde Prelude frame from say, 10 years ago. Its steel, Columbus SL of course. I love the feel of the frame. I payed like $200 CDN new for it. One store in Toronto is still selling it for like $400 CDN new. I put Shimano 600 components with a Deore XT headset (I cut the fork about 1.5mm to small so the 600 headset wouldn't stay tight due to the tall stack height), Cinelli stem and handlebar, Eggbeater petals, Ambrosio Elite rims with 600 hubs and DT spokes, and easton tape. The fell of the overal bike is great. Its fast too for a 22-23 lb bike. I have gotten to play with a few of the new Concorde bikes. I like the feel of them. They continue, after 10 years, to have the same consistency in ride quality. You will enjoy it.

Concorde use to make good bikes, I have also seen a couple out here in T.O., they were super bikes back in the 80's
I remember way back when, when I would drool over getting a Concorde team PDM bike....decent bikes for the price - along with Gitane, Bianchi and Miele (remember that company, fellow Canadians?)

A buddy of mine rides a PDM team concorde from the late-1980s. He loves the bike. It's heavy by today's standards, but he finds the ride exceptionally comfortable next to his aluminum Trek.

Rippin,
I work for Jim Miele in the spring and summer :)
Hey WorldIRC,
Is Miele still making road bikes? I haven't seen one in ages...

He went bust like maybe 10 years ago. He owns a little crappy bike store just north of Toronto, called York Bikes. He has a bunch of his frames left so we ordered some parts and built a few. They are nice, the have Cinelli!

What's happening with Miele cycles? In the 80's they were like the poor man's Bianchi. Junky but rideable.

Like I said, the road bike company no longer exists. When Jim's copyright on the name expired in 98, Pro Cycle bought the name and started making their Miele mountain bikes. We have a million decals and frames left in the store though, so when we are bored we put some of his bikes together. With new parts of course.

Hey WorldIRC,
I'd like to get my hands on an 80's Miele frameset. Where is your store located in T.O? I'm in Brampton right now for the holidays (I live in Vancouver). I'm looking for a 50cm seat tube, 52cm top tube or something close to those dimensions. Please send me a PM or reply to this thread. I'm only in Ontario until Friday. Thanks.

I am the happy owner of a Concorde Strata 105, Ishawata 022 tubes and full 105 grouppo. Bought it used a couple of years ago to replace an early Cannondale. Cadillac ride, compared to the C'dale. It was originally purchased at Ottawa Bikeway.
