Mountain Biking - Frame weight....is it light ?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Is 3.5 Lbs, lightish for a Hardtail ? - it's L size and it's my current Frame, I am wondering wether it's worth upgrading some of the stock components to make it a bit lighter and faster..
I am not looking to make the lightest bike around - just an idea if that weight frame can be made into a decent XC bike for a racing beginner....?
That is light enough. Unless you want to go sub 20 pounds that frame will work fine for racing.
Definitely not a weight weenie frame, but it is enough. My frame also weighs 3.5 lbs. (check out my signature), and I am racing it this year. I think I don't need anything lighter than that for now.
sweet - what I wanted to hear... Thanks
