The back of my leg, right below my butt check on my left leg has been sore since I completed a century over rolling hills two weeks ago.
I’ll admit, my recovery probably wasn’t as long as it should have been – 2 days off the bike – but I have put in two periods of 2-3 days since then as well.
I did race two days (a crit and RR with two 300-400 foot hills) in the week after, but I have cut back my time on the bike a lot since then.
It’s not that painful per say, but depending on how I flex my body (like turning around, etc) I can feel it. I don’t think it’s a muscle that’s sore, I think it may be a bone, but im not sure which one.
I think the best course of action is to take off a week or so from the bike, but I find that hard to do. the longest I did was 3 days and that was not enough to cure the problem.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue is? Which is more likey, a bone or a muscle? If this doesn’t clear up within a few weeks I will see a doctor but in the meantime, I’d prefer not to. It doesn’t affect my cycling per-se, I can still ride hard, and as often as before, but I certainly notice it when I wake up in the morning.
Any insight would be helpful.
