you've all played the legend of zelda. i bet a lot of you have beaten the game at some point. but how many of you have beaten the replay? in the replay, the land of hyrule looks the same, but everything is much more difficult to find.

http://relloms.no-ip.com/zeldaflyer.gif

i sure hope you have a good map.

one day, an evil army attacked the land of hyrule and stole the triforce of power. this army was led by ganon, the powerful prince of darkness who sought to plunge the world into fear and darkness under his rule. fearing his wicked rule princess zelda split up the triforce of wisdom into eight fragments and hid them throughout the realm to save the last remaining triforce from the clutches of the evil ganon. at the same time, she commanded her most trustworthy nursemaid, impa, to secretly escape into the land and go find someone with enough courage to destroy the evil ganon. upon hearing this, ganon grew angry and imprisoned the princess. impa has finally found someone she believes up to the task of freeing the princess.

it is your mission to free princess zelda! collect the 8 pieces of the triforce of wisdom and defeat gannon in his lair atop death mountain to free her from his grasp.

the 8 pieces of the triforce are hidden in 8 different labrynths around hyrule. the locations of all 8 of these labrynths are listed on the map you will get at the race start. after collecting all of these 8 pieces, reuniting the triforce, you will be strong enough to travel to death mountain to defeat the prince of darkness, ganon.

the location of death mountain will be revealed to you at one of the 8 labrynths.

you may visit the labrynths in any order you choose, but you must go to all of them in order to be strong enough to battle gannon atop death mountain.

if you are able to defeat gannon, you can then sprint to the finish line, which will be announced online at the same time as the race start.

good luck to you, and travel safely. the princess depends on your courage!

I'll just get this out of the way now and tell ya'll: NONE of you are going to know where the majority, if not all of the checkpoints are without looking at a map. That's the whole point. So seriously, bring a good map. I recommend a cabby book, as they are the only thing I'm going against to make sure everything is "findable".

I'm a bit confused. We'll need to start from home, or is there a laptop at the start, or do we need to find a free web connection, or do we need to bring a blackberry, or what?

Really fscking pissed that I can't do this race because of KoNE. It would be AWESOME if they had the Kings race in the early morning, so you could drive the 3 hours to Boston to do this, and then come back to New Haven the next day.

I guess this would be doable, if the Hartford race started before noon and/or you could make it to New Haven by 1:30. And had a car waiting. And were HARDCORE.

Making it to New Haven (around 40 miles) in an hour-thirty would be DAMN hard, especially since I'm on a fix.

Car waiting would just be dependent on having someone in New Haven who is willing to carpool.

OF COURSE I AM HARDCORE I HAVE A TATTOO OF AN EAGLE FIGHTING A KANGAROO. Not really.

ok ok ok ok ok the Kings Of New England Alleycat Series.
Saturday's distance race starts at noon. it's 30-35 miles. you can still make it to Boston. If you do, and you bring the organizers of KONE a spokecard from Zelda, you will receive 15 extra credit points towards the overall title, which also brings with it a track frameset.
I agree, the date conflict sucks.
we had chosen these dates months ago because noone else on the east coast had anyhting planned. it just took a while to get flyer artwork done.

please please please, someone from Zelda PM me, or e-mail me at MattUva@gmail.com. there's gotta be something we can do. or, boston heads, race hartford, race boston, race new haven and get at least 15 points for boston. bring us a spokecard and get credit towards the title. new england peoples need to stick together.

p.s. i have a KONE organixers meeting monday. i will bring this up and see if we can make the time earlier. seriously, anyone who wants to race hartford, do a distance race in the am and race boston in the pm, then show up for new haven on sunday is mad hardcore, and deserves some sort of support...

Feel free to contact me through either PM, any of the emails I've listed in this thread, or put on the race website - legendofzeldarace.com, if you're so inclined. If people want to try and do some crazy scheduling thing with this stage race, I'll try and accomodate within reason.

AWESOME!!! If anybody from anywhere wants to work with me on this, we could do a carpool type deally. Drop a car off in New Haven, drive to Hartford, ride to New Haven, drive to Boston, race, drive back to Hartford to pick up car. Also, if anybody from Boston wants to be hardcore, this is how.

Having ridden around Boston a couple of months ago, my first thought is that I'm going to get really damn lost if I do this. The streets in that town drive me nuts. On the plus side, that means if anyone gives me a ride up from Philly, you might not have to give me a ride back.

As far as the Legend Of Zelda vs. Kings Of New England (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=191205) mash-up...

Saturday's distance race (KONE) is worth 50 points to everyone who enters. Bonus points will be awarded for the top 20. We will give 50 points to anyone who arrives Sunday (New Haven) with a Zelda spokecard.

Moral of the story, if you don't think you'll get into the top 20 of a road stage race, go up to Boston, save the princess, and still get your 50 points.
