it's actually made in diameters from 24.8 to 27.2mm
not that i've ever seen one in anything other than 27.2 or 27.0mm though

I like mine, other than the fact that its shorter than my ... well, you get the point.

although, i don't think it should ever be used on a riveted leather saddle.

I should know since I spent about a month looking for one that wasn't junk. People tell you to use 26.4, but then you do... and 26.4 starts to slide down in the frame. :(

ive shimmed with PAPER before. no kidding. believe or not, it held p-er-fect-ly. my friend used aluminum can and that slipped

From the little i can see of it in the picture it looks really nice. Maybe i need to see it in context with the rest of the bike. As for my seatpost, I might be able to squeeze a 26.8 in without too much trouble. Or, I have access to a lathe, i could always shave off .2mm

On the upside, the bike is a bit of a beater, so even a crappy seatpost would work. My problem now is that the P.O. cut the original down to about 6".

The setback can be seen in the third picture... the left side of the pic is the front of the post, right side is rear of the post.

The cylindrical piece of aluminum that goes through the middle of the post can be moved forward or backwards inside the post. As you see it, it is all the way back with about 9mm or 10mm of setback.

The nice thing about it is that the angle is really easy to adjust - a pretty unique style with those two bolts. Hard to explain but easy to use.

But if you have a really really narrow seat with low rails, and you need to move it all the way back, you might be better off with a campagnolo or american classic. I have a selle italia flite titanium (http://www.xoomgear.com/roadbike/saddles/saddles/0/SelleItalia_FliteTransAm/452/) and the american classic fit better. I have the saddle all the way back.

man my bike sucks. conversion(with track bars), miche post with riveted saddle, iro wheels, and sugino rds.i even ride around with a water bottle. i take pride in my lameness.

The angle adjustment on my $100 one-piece carbon Pazzaz is the same system. Never bothered me as the steps are pretty small. I think the pretty bling Ritchey WCS carbon is similar.

I find this seatpost mad sexy. I just wish they made a non-setback version.

well he did say he wanted it for a beater..... so... in any case, the notches aren't that far apart.

if you want infinite adustment, Thomson makes a 26.6, but only in the straight version.

if you want infinite adustment, Thomson makes a 26.6, but only in the straight version. I was writing from experience, the notches on the kalloy are pretty coarse. Then again, maybe my ass was the problem ... that and riding 45 miles/day 5-6 days/week. :beer:
