Im a new rider. i just bought a 2004 Kona Coiler

I would like to know. what is good on this bike. and what you would change to make it better. from what i can tell the biggest difference is. on the 2004 - to the 2006 there is a inch more travle on the rear.
here are the specs. i already changed the pedals to konas primo jack shift

Its a downhill ski resort bike. Not a huge big hit bike, but enough to take what you will probley give to it

so i cant really do what i planned on doing with it. when i snowboard i go big back country of traIL i wanna do the same on the bike. i wanna be able to push my self to braking.

It will take a beating and keep on ticking. I wouldnt go bigger than 10' flat land drops, but it will take some mad abuse.
I had a coiler a while back, but I kept having problems with the bigger hits and drop offs. So, I switched up and bought a Kona Stab Primo.

so it should last a few years, is there any way to make the rear coil have more travel.

No, it is what it is.
If you find youself bottoming out the rear shock (I think it is a coil shock) you can get a stiffer spring to take bigger hits.
