Hello, All.

I've ridden on and off since I could get on two wheels (which was some forty-odd years ago). Last year, my wife and I were asked to participate in a local charity ride (Wheeling for Healing, Menomonee [rhymes with 'monotony'] Falls, WI). So, we took our old Toys-R-Us mountain beaters on the four-mile ride and lived to tell about it. This year, we decided to go for the 15-miler (I realize these numbers are laughable to some, but hey, at least we're putting in some miles {grin**), but realized there was no way these old bikes would fill the bill.

So, the wife now has a Trek (a 1000, I think), and I have a Giant Cypress LX. Deciding that a good warmup would be National Bike-to-Work Week, I've spent two days a week bike-commuting 9 miles each way. Hm. Might as well go for the 30-miler.

Thanks for providing this forum...much of the advice has already come in handy!

Welcome. You've got some good trails to ride in Wisconsin. I also like some of the trails (the Munger comes to mind) across the border in Minnesota. A lot of them are perfect to pedal to some small town, spend the night and pedal back the next day.
