Due to incompetence, I stripped the thread on either my axle or locknut while adjusting my front hub. Now I can't remove locknut from axle. I've unthreaded everything off the opposite end of the axle, salvaging the 2 new cones, 2 spacers, 2 dustcaps, and 1 locknut. These are all for a Shimano Parallax hub. I have on hand another wheel with a SunTour XT hub that I used as a winter wheel, so several nipples are rusted into the rim. I've removed the axle, which is the same diameter and length. The locknuts are the same thickness according to my caliper, but they are hex shaped rather than the rounds with flats that came with the Parallax hubs. The dust caps look like they will fit them.

Is there any reason I should not reassemble the Parallax hub using the SunTour axle, Parallax cones and spacers, SunTour locknuts and Parallax dustcovers?

I think it's worth a try, Jean. If you can obtain a decent bearing adjustment, go for it.
