So, my good friend Jon @ grinderbikes.com and I just finished building up this thing...

It's a (heavily modified) Rudge Bi-Frame built by Montague. Montague also built these for Schwinn for awhile, they were a little bit different (the rear dropouts for example), but basically it's the same bike. Does anyone have one of these (a Rudge or a Schwinn) that also has one of the bags for it? Or even one of those hard carrying cases that Montague makes/made? If so, is it worthwhile to have one, where/how have you travelled with it, etc. I wanted this bike so that it could live in the boot of my car, and it works great for that, but I'm starting to wonder about other travel options... ;)

Nicely detailed/colour co-ordinated. Got a pic of it collapsed? (sorry - I can't answer your questions but am intrigued by your bike...)

Here's a pic of the Rudge collapsed. Folds up reasonably easily, though you have to be careful to get all of the parts in the right places so you don't wonk the frame. Note the pipe insulation that I have on the downtube to protect it. I just ordered a custom R.E.Load frame pad (white w/ black highlights) that will do the same job full time and hopefully look a little better... ;)
