General Cycling Discussion - New year resolution....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This New Year, I resolve:

3. to stop obsessing about boys,
4. to be taller,
5. to stop flirting,
6. to...to...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! I just can't do this and keep a straight face!

I refuse to make cycling new year's resolutions anymore. The last time I tried, I had broken it by 4.45am on New Year's Day!

Is a new year resolution a promise to yourself, or something that you have in the back of ur mind to work on??

I am only making one resolution, and that is to take better care of me. That means riding my bikes, taking classes that interest me, and keeping up with my Sunday ritual. One broad resolution seems easy enough to handle.
As I recall one of my resolutions from Jan 1, 2002 was to ride 4000+ miles in 2002. Didn't happen. This year was a disaster. Not even close to 2000 miles. :crash:
So I'm not making any resolutions this year. I just hope to ride lots, enjoy life, and have fun.
Oh yes, and win the lottery. :D

My New Years Resolutions are:
1) Find Tom Cruise or Matt Damon and snog them :D (I wish)
2) Get a Job Part time that pays well so I can spend the rest of time with my bike and my pony
3) Get a cool bike
4) Stop day dreaming
5) Join the local cycling club
6) Marry Matt Damon
;)

I never used to make any resolutions for the new year. But I will, now.
I resolve to watch the words I speak. I resolve to be kind. I resolve to love my neighbor and to help others if I can. I resolve to make good use of time and not waste it carelessly. I resolve to call my Mom and Dad, my brother and sister. I resolve to love my children more fervently.
I resolve to be joyful in this great opportunity I've been given, life!
:D

Hey Chris, if you make it there between the 5th and 9th of October, we can catch up. That's when our across Australia ride is there.
Plan now to visit then. Why not aim to be in Hobart on the 9th when we ride in for our big finish? If you have your bike we can go riding on the Friday, the 10th.

I'll see how I go. I've got some professional studies that I have to undertake for my job this year, so those might get in the way. If I'm clear at that time, I'll be there!

Two resolutions:
1) Read the appropriate chapters in Barnett's before doing bike maintenance, instead of after so I can see how to do it, instead of how I should have done it. :(
2) I have a really sick uncle on the other side of the continent. He has no family out there, just some good friends. I have resolved to do a better job of staying in touch this year.

How can one follow that...?
You don't need the year to change to find resolve.
Resolutions, goals, aspirations, dreams, desires...and the story goes on!
Many don't see value in them; :( Most are afraid to make them; Others keep making them, without regard  for subtle negative images, which feeds other attempts at personal satisfaction. Oh Boy!!!! isn't this a fun merry-go-round... NOT! Yet, a few of us work very hard at reaching little ones, and relish the accumulation of values found in challenging the threat of fears of failure.
:fight: this bad habit. Make little resolutions you're able to keep, making your personal feed back an erector set, supporting a better attitude. :D
I am putting my soapy box back into the closet, until next time I see a door or cracked window...... Happy & Healthy New Year to all.
PS.. my resolutions are:
Be a wiser father
See more smiles on the faces of those I come in contact with
To help those I can and attempt to support those I can't.
Do a 50mile hard ride...

Oh boy I need to go to Australia!!! :p need to lay down those old family haunts :D Well I haven't cycled once this new year utter disgrace and quite strange too I am definately going out riding tomorrow as got no petrol or money to buy any and the horse's need feeding!! Ah well it's only a lil five miles there :D
As hopeless as it seems (I've failed so often), but I resolve to get my bodyweight below 167 lbs. 167 = the weight I would need to get my BMI at the maximum recommended 25.
I weigh 189 after excess Xmas joy.
So all it will take is riding, rowing, lifting, walking, and pushing away from the table. And that last part is the hardest.
