I treated myself to a Selle Italia Prolink Trans Am Gelflow saddle today. On the way home from my LBS, I recalled reading posts that told of Selle Italia carbon rails being prone to breakage. Anyone want to confirm/deny before I mount it on my bike?
I think you will be fine with the CF rails.
I'd just keep an eye on em to ensure
they (the rails) aren't scratched, gouged
or anything else that might compromise
the integritiy of the CF.
IF there were legit problems with em I don't
think Selle Italia would still be selling em
just my .02 worth,

plus i'm sure with something like that there is sometype of warranty

I think Marty covered it. I've heard of people slightly chamfering the edges of their seatpost clamps where the rails enter/exit to make sure sharp edges don't damage the rails. You might want to eyeball yours...
Everything breaks.
Take note many carbon rail saddles in the market today have a 'metal' sleeve around the rails to help strenghten them.
Actually the worse problems I always saw were on the forged rails that some models used. Those simply snapped like titanium.

Thanks, everyone. The rails on the saddle I bought don't have metal sleeves - I guess it's the 2002 model. I didn't realize that titanium snapped, either. I guess I'll stop worrying and mount it on my bike.
