I'm way ahead of you. I've secretly been buying up all the classic road bikes off ebay under about a dozen different screen names.

The Paramounts I'm grinding up, sandblasting, beating with a rusty chain then having them poorly rechromed. The Italian bikes get the grinder taken to all the brazeons, sandblasted, then a nice thick runny coat of Krylon is applied. The french bikes get "cold set" to 135 spacing, bottom brackets and headsets drilled out to clense them of their frenchness, and set up as "29ers" then ridden off a cliff. Finally for my master stroke. all British frames are having their lugs and seat stays filled with bondo, then a faux carbon finish is laboriously applied with stickum paper.

In this way only crappy roadbikes from the 70s will be left, and the "road bike" will be remembered ever more for the impure mongrel it really is. Ethnic cleansing!!!

I've kinda thought about buying a bunch of old motobecanes, peugots, nishikis, and schwinns locally. I mean they go for 50$ a frame. I've even gotten a motobecane short of a seatpost, saddle and wheels for just 50 at YBP. I figure I can build em up SS,fg,geared or whatever and have a blast just scouring used parts and building up bikes under 100.
