Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - fsa cranks and rings

Does anyone have any experince with fsa cranks. Im thinking about buying the vigorelli but im not quite sure I wanna drop the cash though.

I owned a first gen pair that were not up to par (crank arm snapped off of spindle), but
a) They happily replaced them
and
b) I've heard this issue was fixed in later generations

Other than that they seem pretty economical, at least relative to say, Campy.

I use one of their track rings [48t]. I think you need a special BB to use their cranks.

I have a set of the vigorellies on one of my bikes. They ride pretty nice no special BB is needed any isis in the correct lenth will work. The QPB book tells you the correct length for a track frame I think its a 108

I also have one of their chainrings. Its 3/32 so i think it may be meant for downhill as opposed to track, but its light and stiff and hasn't given me any problems.

I used the Vigorellis for a while too, I had absolutely no complaints with them. I've never ridden any other track cranks though. I'm switching them for DA this next week. I'll let you know if there's a difference.

Had the Vig's for a year on a hard ridden bike. People always ask why they haven't broken yet (apparently some problem with the early ones). Crank arms seem heavy (REAL stiff), but the spider is super light, the chainrings are only fairly round, and the bottom bracket is niiiiice...
Keep in mind that you're going to have to run an ISIS BB, and that involves tools that you probably don't already own-- But buying tools is part of the joy, non?

FSA 144 BCD are supposed to be 1/8"

I have a set of vigorellis and a set of sugino 75s, and I like them both equally, performance wise. They are both really stiff. The 75s are probably more durable in the long run, but the vigorellis have that sweet knightrider look to them.

i just got a 50t chainring for my campy pista cranks. it's suuuuper nice. i was impressed with the quality with it being so inexpensive.

i also have some of their gossamer cranks and chainrings on my 'cross bike. i am very pleased with them as well. they're super stiff. i really like fsa stuff. i have their carbon riser bars and stem on my ss mtb and some os road bars and stem on my 'cross bike as well. all quality pieces.

I picked up a set of Vigorelli cranks/chainring on ebay at a decent price. They are a solid set of cranks. Hold out for a pair of 165s if thats your persuasion - my 172.5s are too damn long and as a result I've got an assload of toeverlap. Then again, if you get a good deal on a pair of 165s and find out that you want 172.5s let me know! Looking to trade

Thanks fellas I think I gonna go for it I really dig the how they will look plus my bike is all black and I found some 165's for much cheaper than I thought. I might even just go ahead and replace my bb too.

No experience with the cranks, but I have a 45t FSA chainring and it has proven to be very durable and long-wearing. Still round and flat after over a year with minimal visible wear. Better, in these respects, than my previous Salsa chainring.
