Always on the lookout for more bike pictures, I came across this:

$500

For $750, you can get the "deluxe" model:

Apparently made by the Monster bike company but I can find no other information on them.

Great toy until you have to buy new tires.

Heavy, overbuilt and more of a novelty than practical transportation. I imagine with tires that big, its for very tall riders. No wonder it can't be found for sale any more! :trainwreck:

Coker came out with those for a while, look for "Coker Monster Cruiser". Coker is a vintage tire manufacturer, and as a sideline also sells unicycles using the 36" tire you see here. At one time, they sold the Monster Cruiser, and also the Wheelman bicycle, which was a penny-farthing design with 36" wheel.

I think the Monster Cruiser was actually made for Coker in China. I have seen the same bike offered by a European unicycle seller as well. I'm not aware of it currently being available, though, and had never seen the "deluxe" model.

The bike itself is "out of stock" www.bikemania.biz/Coker_Standard_Red_Monster_Cruiser_Bicycle_p/coker_monsterstandardred.htm (http://www.bikemania.biz/Coker_Standard_Red_Monster_Cruiser_Bicycle_p/coker_monsterstandardred.htm)

The tires should last a good long while, so I wouldn't be too concerned about tire cost. (I think they're $60 or so). The way the frame is built, it's not just a scaled up 26" bike, so I think a fair range of riders could ride it. As far as I know, the main purpose is novelty; it's not intended as an improvement over "normal" bikes. I'd like to have one, but don't really want to spend $400 or whatever one would cost when they occasionally show up.

If you're interested in one, you might contact Coker. I think they have talked about re-issuing it. They should have a blog with company news on the website, at least I've seen it in the past. The unicycles are popular enough that tires are actually available from multiple companies now.

36" is a common size for unicyles, so there should be tires/wheel parts available
