Has anyone here changed out their 406 wheels for 451? My primary concern is that my brakes will not be able to accomodate the slightly taller wheel. I looked at my v-brakes and saw that I could move my brake pads approximately 1/2" to 3/4" up. This equates to being able to handle a wheel that is 1" to 1 1/2" taller(bigger in diameter). I've never even seen a 451 wheel and am not sure exactly how much of a difference there is,

There's a notable difference, but that's all I can tell you (just compared them visually but did not do any measurements).

However, when dudes in the recumbent world want to swap smaller for larger wheels and vice versa, many recommend the Paul brake arms (http://www.paulcomp.com/frmbrakes.html) in order to be sure their brakes will work. Not cheap by any means, though.

Depending on your frame, you'll probably need Pauls or FMF v-brakes. They have a huge range that will allow you to use either 406 or 451 wheels. I've converted most of my small bikes to 451. When I converted mine, I went from using v-brakes to road calipers. The larger wheel allows the use of road calipers.
