Hi guys,
i'm in the process of converting a 12speed racer to a s/s. I realized the rear hub is the Shimano 600EX Uniglide hub. I've order a s/s conversion kit, but that the lockring included is for the Hyperglide hub. As i've read in this forum a while back, its possible to use an English BB lockring with the UG hub as the threads are identical.
Is there any truth to it? Have anyone here tried using them together? And is it a perferct match? Any input/tip/clarification is appreciated. Thanks.

No, there is no truth to it. The original Uniglide lockring comes in the form of the smallest cog. The threading is 34.6mm. BTW. I have it if you need it. http://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=178946&highlight=uniglide
BTW.Some of the casette bodies were threaded for both old (smallest cog) and new (Hyperglide) style lockring.

Why can't you just use the old screw on cog to do it?
