Mountain Biking - Anyone heard of this?

Ive been riding for about 3 years, but last summer, someone stole my bike and i havnt had enough money to buy a new one. One day i found a site with nice looking bikes for real cheap. So i looked at them, and decided that i wanted to get the Exodus Bolide or the Exodus Lance. They seem like good bikes to me, but has anyone heard/ridden one of them? If so, what do you think?

I'm not a fan of that geometry, every one I've seen like that causes lots of pedal bob. I've never heard of the frame so I don't know if its good or bad, the components seem ok and the front shock is ok for starting, and I've never heard of the rear shock. i'd say ok for light trails and stuff but no hardcore.

thanks for all of your imput. I think im still going to consider it since i dont have much cash and since im still just starting out.

I'd say look into getting a more trustworthy bike now and save yourself the hassel of having to do it the right way later on - save time and money.

I'd suggest buying a hardtail for the same price, you'll get better components and an overall better ride.

In that price range for a full suspension there aren't many options, most aren't even a marketable item. but here are a couple more to check out

It's been said many time that the better full susser's wil be over the 1000 dollar mark, And I fully agree. Is a hard tail out of the question?

Look more on the Wal-mart side to me.

I dont ride very tought trails, but i like have FS because im a big fan of the bike absorbing the shock from hitting jumps, instead of my body. I just prefer it over hardtail. Im a pretty big guy, so having the rear shocks are a pretty big +. Any suggestions as to a bike thats reliable but not expensive? The link to their site is www.bikewind.com

I have a full suspension bike, and I am a big guy. I can't wait to purchase a hardtail bike. Going down is definately more fun on a full suspension, but thats about it. Going uphill is hell. They are much heavier.

That bike looks like it weights a ton with the horrid welds, etc. I'm going to buck the trend here and say that yes, due to decent components it will be reasonable, but a horrid frame with amazing components isn't going to help you. That bike wont do any better than a low end quality bike, like a Hardrock. At the end of the day, your getting a cheap full suspension bike that you will hate. If you demand full suspension, you really really really want a rear lockout. Climbing sucks without one.

So by all means, go for it. If you are a beginner, it will work probably as well as a hardrock would, but no better by any means, nor any better than any other hard tail. It's a Walmart bike w/ name brand (some) parts. I bought a reasonably decent full suspension a few years ago for $600... $900 in upgrades/repairs later I wish I went for the $1k bike up front.

I am a big guy too, and I firmly believe that you have to spend some money to get a good full suspension. $600 isn't going to get it, and outside of a KHS or a Kona Kikapu $1000 isn't going to be enough either. As a matter of fact I had to get upwards of $1700 to find a bike that I was convinced would hold up to my size and riding style. I kept my hardtail, but don't miss it because my rear has a lockout. For me, it is smoother over technical stuff, more comfortable over rough stuff, and since I can make it fully rigid its faster over the smooth stuff too.

I believe KHS will have a full suspension in that price range. Yep. XC004 (http://www.khsbicycles.com/03_xc_004_07.htm) is in the price range ($709) and will be an upgrade worthy frame. This is the lowest level bike my LBS will sell. Notice the FXT has a similar suspension setup to what you're thinking of buying. The horst link rear suspension has a good reputation. Just saying, you might want to look around a little more...

maybe you should just buy that bike. then when you come back and whine about the frame cracking and the 4 year old fork they put on it breaking and the crappy discs breaking, you'll have learned your $650 lesson and get a real full suspension bike.

They make excellent bikes and I really like mine.. i've had it for a few years now, go for it. :)

For the price, its too expensive. Look at a hardtail.
Im also a very big guy, and I thought the same as you and I bought a FS bike. I hated it.
And if you are going to be jumping it like it says in your post, thats not the bike to buy.
Its a POS.
