Tandem eye-candy!
Just saw this CyclArt paintjob with dragons, etc.
Also carbon fiber lugs with window cutouts.
Got eye-candy? Let's share it . . .

FWIW, the ZXT has been around since the early 90's and I've never seen one on the road nor heard from anyone who actually owns one.

The LeMond pictured above was acquired a few years ago by a friend who lives near Seattle, WA.... same gent who commissioned the first S&S equipped chromoly Ventana...

...and who subsequently had it "expanded" into a convertible multiseater that could be configured as a Tandem, Triplet, Quad, or a Quint.

Jim & Jill and their two boys would take it out cruising the neighborhood and to organized rides and I'm pretty sure he's raced it as a triplet with the boys at least once. As an S&S two-seat tandem, they've taken it on vacation to Catalina Island and a few other places.

Subsequent to the photo above, Jim had Ventana (Sherwood Gibson) build a rigid rear end for the thing to make it more rideable in the Quad/Quint configuration.

I should also note, when I last took inventory Jim owned three other Ventana tandems: a standard El Conquistador and two El Testigo Expertos (downhill-specific), plus a pair of road-going Co-Motions (one S&S and one rigid), and a couple of customized Ti (Air) Bike Friday tandems that he was toying with as "uber" tandems for road/off-road use. A very interesting guy to say the least...

Amazing bikes posted to this thread, one and all.

However, before you have candy, you have to eat your vegetables. I offer this cable repair on my tandem:

http://home.nannynannybooboo.com/bike/cable.jpg

Cable broke late on a Friday before an early-start Saturday morning ride, and my spare tandem-length cable collection was heavy on brake cables and light on shifter cables. (i.e., no shifter cables.) Clipped off the broken ends, and used another piece of scrap cable tied and solder as a spliced-in segment.

That was over 1,000 miles ago, including two centuries. Must get around to putting a proper cable in...!

Correction -- that was probably 1,600+ miles ago... picture is from early December...

Have never personally seen a ZXT; but yes, they've been around a while. One used ZXT was up for sale a few years ago; hear they're a bit on the heavy side for carbon; but a unique design!
That 'limo' Ventana has to be a hoot turning corners!
. . . and amazing how a temporary cable fix can become sorta permanent! Spliced one together years ago; as long as it keeps you riding 'til you get-around-2-it!

So long as we're talking hot tubes, I would be remiss if I didn't slip in a picture of Sean Yates current Time Trial tandem that he's been campaigning with brother Chris stoking:

He's got a 64t drive ring coming...

Fellow in CA is building up a full custom with TA 65T chainring . . .
Largest we've run was a 56 back in the early 80s; had to get the steel cage on FD extended so we could utilize all 3 chainrings without chainrub. Still spun out at 44 MPH . . .

Some years ago we had a very light, steel, ultra-short wheelbase (USWB) Holdsworth tandem with a 64t drive ring. We brought it to the US and were going to have it repainted but were told there was a hairline crack at the (curved) seat tube/TT lug which could not be repaired, so we gave it away, after having the recipient sign a waiver. Now I know better and that it could have been repaired, but we can't trace the tandem. I could kick myself. My sons and I could really get that thing moving - but I was younger then - sigh:)

As a tandem duo, we are a bit on the small side: pilot 5'7", stoker 4' 10 3/4".
Designed a short wheelbased tandem back in '76, built by Matt Assenmacher in Michigan.
Wheelbase 60 and 1/4 inch! Bent rear seattube, toeclip overlap. Had to deflate rear tire to remove the wheel. A great bike that we put 64,000 miles on before we sold it. Carefully picked tubing (531 DB single bike racing tubing, except for boob tube which was ovalized) and components, including 36H wheels. Had a very agile, fast and, for then, an extremely lightweight tandem (34 lbs!). Broke that frame twice: once at 50,000 and again at 56,000 miles.
Likely could of had that Holdworths bent tube replaced by a competent builder.

Combination of alu and c/f frameset.
Head & seat tubes and rear triangle are anodized alu; main tubes are carbon fiber.
