Are the pads glazed?

1. Take the pads out and lightly sand to remove any glaze

2. Lightly sand down rotor/clean with methalyated sprits (dentured alcahol).

3. Replace wheel, re-align caliper.

4. Do a few minutes of really hard braking and heat up the rotor/pads.

5. you should be right!

I had EXACTLY the same problem with my rear Hayes brakes/pads. I bought a set of EBC Green pads (quiter pads) for about $20AUd off eBay, and squeel is no more!

A grit of about 600 on the pads, and 800 on the rotors.
