Yeah I did it again. I was riding in town, catching a draft off of a vehicle, following too closely, and they slowed down really fast for a stop sign, and that forced me to do the same, and with no time to dismount, over I went in front of several people. And people were laughing, and then I thought, "all I can do is laugh with them, I can only laugh with them." I had a wonderful ride

I did that my first day commuting to work. There was no laughing involved. People were staring in this weird freakish way.

About 2 years ago, I got my first set of clipless pedals. I read all the literature and tips and such... then practiced, practiced, practiced. Then I thought I was ready to go out in the real world.

But as anybody who has used clipless pedals knows, it's not a sure thing until clipping out becomes a conditioned reflex.

I was coming to a stop sign, and like a good cyclist, I slowed down to stop... then I paniced when pulling back my foot (as opposed to twisting it) wasn't doing anything. I saw the stop sign post and grabbed for it. Unfortunately, there was a guy leaning against it with his back towards me, so I accidentally grabbed his shoulder instead!

I saved myself from a fall, but I had to go through an embarrassing song and dance to the poor guy explaining clipless pedals and why I invaded his personal space. He was a good sport about it... my move could have easily misinterpreted as an attempted assault from behind him.

Cru, every ride is a wonderful ride.

BTW, last time I was in Huntington, I stuck my Peterbilt truck in the middle of an empty parking lot.

It is a nice town though, and should be great biking come spring.

The Hungarian judge gives you a 5.0 for technical merit and 9.5 for not blowing your cool.

The first time I fell, I was right on the side of a busy intersection. As soon as I has unclipped myself from the pedals, I stood up and took a bow. :)

This Hungarian judge can't be bought. I'll give you a 9.9 for attitude... and a 5.5 for crash style.

Then again, I could be bought if you've got some stuffed cabbage or nut roll... :)
