I tend to dwell on the negative things cagers do, so when a driver does something nice, I like to acknowledge it.
Saturday morning I was doing my usual 20+ mile road bike ride and I was riding on a street that goes from 2 lanes to one. When it narrowed I sped up and took the lane. Speed limit is 30 MPH. Noticed there was a car in back of me, but he was being nice.
The lane then widened so that both a car and a bike could ride side by side and I moved over. He pulls up next to me and my first thought, is what is this idiot going to yell. No, he smiles at me and says I was going between 24-30 MPH. I thank him and wave, he waves.
His speedo was probably a little optimistic, but its good to know I can keep up with traffic. I was riding a 42X17, spinning fairly fast but not overexerting myself. I rode that gear at the same tempo for most of my ride.
