Touring - Nashbar Clipless ATB Pedal NR-PDL

Hello,

i need an advice for buying a clipless pedal.
I have shimano spd sandals and am looking to buy the Nashbar Clipless ATB Pedal NR-PDL
for my transamerican trip.

What do you think about this pedal? Reliable, adequate for touring?

i haven't tried that particular nashbar pedal, But I have used this one for 3 years and 4500 miles without any problems, I personally like the one sided pedals on a touring bike so when I am in a dicey situation or loose sand I can stay out of the clips to quickly dab a foot

We got a few sets of Nashbar pedals to try on towner bikes. We decided that the quality was poor and we are going to send them back to Nashbar for a refund.

If you are going cross country, get some good quality pedals. The Shimano 324 has a clip on one side a platform on the other. Shimano 515 (I think 520 now) are good too. I have used both types for a few years now with no problems.

I believe that is the same pedal (rebadged Ritchey pedal) -I have 3 pairs of them. I'd give them a very hearty two thumbs up -but only for road riding, not off roading. I also have two cycling friends who use them as well. Release is pretty consistent, but not the best, and they can jam up with mud. If you cycle alot or can afford some Shimano pedals, I'd recommend those (however, they are about 50% costlier). These pedals have been great to put on my spare bikes, and I did use them last year on my old touring bike with no complaints, and I always use them on my recumbent.

FYI: Nashbar sells several Nashbar brand pedals, so negative feedback about these may be from the cheaper ones they sell.

I have a pair of one of my bikes and they are just fine. Can't tell the difference between the other SPD compatible pedals I use.

We havea set on the wife's ride. Work great but she doesnt put down the serious miles.

Try shimano M424s - double-sided entry, cage so you can ride in street shoes as well, lighter than the 324s.
