Hi Everybody, I'm Bill, 63 yo, a casual/exercise bike rider and live in Oregon.
I don't have a recumbent bike but I'm looking at a couple and I have a question: Would you buy a used (2004) Burley Jett Creek with a few upgrades like fenders and stand, or a new Koosah for about the same price? Would the 2 yo Jett Creek components necessarily be better than the new Koosah?
I've been riding the same bike for 15 years so my knowledge is very limited.:)
Thanks, Bill

My opinion, but I bought a used, upgraded bent, and then a year later, bought a new one.
I know where the new one has been and what has been changed on it.

I'd go with the new one. If there are any issues with it, it'll be a bit easier to solve that way.
Where are you from in Oregon? I"m in Eugene. I'm trying to get a riding group together down here.
Lemme Know what you end up doing!

Hello neighbor, I'm in Corvallis - but about the only time I get to Eugene is when I crave some potato bajias at Poppies Anatolia.
I just sat on it (the Koosah) today and it felt great. I'll work up enough nerve to ride it in a few days. The dealer is downtown so I can take it over to the riverfront and ride the bike path there.
I will let you know what I do. I was leaning towards the new bike, especially since I'm pretty frugal and I want a significant discount when I buy used. I may try to get the dealer to come down a little but this is probably the wrong time of year to strike bargains at a bike shop.
Bill: I too am a frugal kind...my advice is go with the one that feels the most comfortable both for your body and for your wallet. Since this is your first, if you get something your uncomfortable with in either of these areas you will not feel good later. I did not say you would regret it but you may wish you would have done something different. just my 2 cents... peace, el padre

Corvallis eh?(Just a little skeptical, well because of that certain faux-University that is in Corvallis, lol). I have never really enjoyed riding bikes, except for the occasional ride around the neighborhood, until I got my bent. I'll ride for two or three hours, listen to my ipod and ride around town. Its great. My only issue with bents is the different needs when transporting things(ie. backpacks are hard to wrangle when on a bent, but with a rack and a basket, i've solved my problems on that end).
You'll be pleased with either bike you buy, I'll promise you that. Maybe when you get it, I'll make the ride up to Corvallis, I'm going to do the Seattle to Portland ride this summer. I should get training...
