i need to swap out the lowers from one fork and move them to the other. what's the easiest procedure for this? the oil cart in the doner lower fork is blown so i'm going to keep the one in the original.
Be prepared to catch any oil from the blown damper, but other than that, the procedure is pretty easy.
1. Disconnect front brake cable or remove them entirely.
2. Pull the damper adjuster out of the bottom of the left leg. (It's held in by an o-ring)
3. The Ti bolts under each leg require an eight mm allen wrench. Loosen each bolt about two turns, then tap them with a mallet to dislodge the cartridge and dummy shaft from the lowers.
4. Remove both bolts and the legs should pull right off the upper assembly.
Here is a link to 1997 Judy owners manual. Hope it helps
