Road Cycling - What's your 2002 mileage?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
In 2002 I logged 2,540 miles (4,088km)
That’s not bad considering that I cant bike commute, my job takes up 60 hours a week, and I have the usual honey-do and chuffer duties that come with a wife and 2 teenagers.
What was your milage?
Do you have any mileage goals for 2003?
6,960 miles for me. I don't have any real mileage goals for 2003, but believe me, I've got a lot of other ones! ;)

Wow, that's some biking. I only managed 235 miles on my road bike (didn't start til late and have too many other things going on), but also did 230 on my mountain bike.
I think i'll break 1000 miles on the road this year, and probably 500 trail miles.
I got to about 5200K by mid-october, when my season was cut short by an accident. I was hoping to reach 6000, but still not bad. That is my road, MTB and cross bike combined.
1144 miles. Small change to you more experienced riders. This year I want to break 3000 miles. Shouldn't be too difficult considering I didn't start until May last year because of the cold. Now I have the trainer and started on Jan. 1 (do trainer miles count?) I was also in terrible shape at the beginning of '02 which is not the case this year.
do trainer miles count?)
If I rode a trainer, I would count them twice because they take twice the discipline to do. :)

2400 I hope to stay healthy this year and get in more.

LoL, that's a very creative idea. I'd surely have a whole lot more miles considering I've got a lot of trainer miles already just from Nov. & Dec.! :)

3500 miles. 650 on singletrack mtb'ing, the rest road. I was happy with that considering I did not start riding until late May this year due to a knee problem.

I got email from one of my touring partners today. He is claiming 15,557 miles for 2002.
I haven't kept track of my mileage for a few years. In 2002, I rode somewhere between 2000 and 5000 miles. :D
So far, in 2003 I've ridden 7 miles.

2583 miles.... well off of my goal, but I guess looking back at my season I didn't ride at all in September or October because of my knee, and July was low because of my other accident.
My resolution/goals for 2003 is not to freaking kill myself.

WEll since I didn;t really start getting back into cycling until about March, and didn't get a odometer on my bike until about May... my mileage for 2002 was just over 300 miles... very slim I know... but this year my goal is 3000 miles... I got my trainer for xmas, and even though I don;t count those miles (mostly since I don;t have a rear wheel pickup) I should be pretty close to the goal this year, at least I'll be in better riding shape. So far my 2003 mileage is sitting at about 21 miles...
Does uphill with headwinds count for 1.5x or double the actual distance ?
Jeff
p.s. I fully agree that Trainer miles should be worth at least double.. i always feel like I work a whole lot more on it !

about 1600 miles, but I didn't get the bike until mid May, and I lasted only 3.7 miles on my first ride.

I have no idea, and I like it that way. I raced for a while and was a slave to my computer and heartrate monitor. I stared at the numbers and forgot all about enjoying my ride. Since I stopped racing and started a family, I was frustrated by my lack of milage and declining average speed. Chucking my computer was an epiphany and lead to my enjoying my bike more than I had in years. I have been computerless for about 6 years now, and really don't miss it! I ride mainly for time and as hard as I feel like riding. I am in tune with my body and I see the scenery during a ride.
For you guys keeping track - way to go! As the rock group Queen says in one of their songs, "Get on your bike and ride!"

6,925 miles. I love my work schedule. I can ride until 2PM. That allows for high mileage seasons.
Next year I'm hoping to get about the same mileage, but with more hills.

I wanted to make 9,000.. Almost- 8,859 miles or about 14, 700 km.. I would not be able to do so well- but my work schedule allows me to commute to work once a week.. So comuting is normally my base and that accounts for about 2,800 miles a year. Great- those miles do not show up on my Jetta odometer.. I like my Jetta and I like biking so each compliments the other..

7,248 miles for 2002 and 68 miles for 2003.
I want to improve my mph and keep improving my speed and endurance on hills.

5,002 miles . . . Just squeaked in the last 30+ mile ride about a week before the end of the year.:D I'm shooting for 6,000 this year, but the weather is sure not cooperating so far this winter (and I don't count indoor miles either) . . . Praying for an early thaw!

exactly 3400 miles.
exactly one wife.
exactly 3 children.
exactly 1 full time job.
exactly one busy life.
i want to brag about getting better, not spending more time doing it.
Praying for an early thaw!
Looks like a long cold winter ahead so yesterday I decided that I would buy studded tires.
Last night I had a dream - It was a beautiful spring day, I skipped work and started riding out a new country lane. I was strong and full of energy - I knew that I could ride all day. Then the alarm went off and I got up for another cold, snowy day of work. :(
I’m gona order those studded tires today so I can be ready for that spring day I dreamed of.
2,587 miles on my road bike since its inaugural ride in early March,
1,300 miles "estimated" on my commuter/shopping bike,
I need a ride today to feel good for yet another Xmas lunch tomorrow (I know!!) but am chickening out because the first Snow fall of the winter is covering the roads. Doh!! :(
The grand total for 2002 is 12,978 miles, I wanted 13,000 but the ice and snow got in the way. This year 15,000 miles. So far I have 34.

Mr. Fix. Wow.. With snow about 4 months of the year.. 10,000 is difficult with ideal weather 11 months of the year... The top rider should get some sort of accolade.. When I retire, the sky is the limit... I will commute to a part time job and ask myself, will we really need more than one car.?

I have roughly 1,100 miles. My computer broke in the middle of my ride on Wednesday. How can I track this years miles!?

It was a good year for me, I rode about 2,400km, which is a big jump for last year. Hopefully this year I will be able to surpass last years total.

So my question, can you ever get enough..? This year 8,859 about 180 greater than my previous all time high, two years ago..
Guess, I will not be satisified until I cross a continent and hopefully log in 10,000 miles that year.. In the mean time, I just do not want to log under 8,000 miles.. Just imagine what it would be like, if we did not have to work or could commute to work daily..

W/ the thaw in Late March, my spring commutes, summer riding and touring and fall commutes I managed to get in 1750 miles for 2002. Hope training this winter and my school commutes will get me prepared for L/C and Ragbrai this coming summer.
7152km @ 27kph/4470miles @ 16.8. Goal was 7500km so I'm am pretty happy with my effort. Most of my riding was commuting with very few weekend rides as we moved house and spent every weekend for the last 6 months doing house stuff, like landscaping.
I hooked up with a bunch of guy's that race every Saturday of the year, so I guess my mileage will go up considerably with races being 60 to 130km long.
For this reason I haven't set any mileage goals, but I will be aiming to win at least one race this year.
Wish me luck.

5960KM from May - October. I was hoping for 6000km. I was 40km short. GRRRR.. Oh well, next year.
6820 miles on my road bike, about 1000 on my commuter. This winter it looks like it will be tougher to get the miles in because the weather has been atrocious since late November till now. Last year we were in the midst of a drought and I did not miss many days. This year, ice and snow are conspiring against me.
About 4500 miles but I haven't ridden since mid December (except on a trainer) as we have had very icy mornings up here.

408.3 mi. MTB off road
1,831.0 mi. road
736.0 mi. indoor trainer (love that rear wheel pickup)
2,975.3 mi. Grand Total
4577 miles, mostly road, a little MTB, a little less trainer.

I got in 4613 miles in 2002, beat 2001 by 123 miles. Hope to get in 5000+ this year. If I keep the wind to my back it will happen.

I did about 5000 mostly commuting miles in 2002, which is typical. It would have been more (because the weather last winter was unusually dry and warm) but I was never able to free up time for any 100+ mile rides over the summer.
2003 is getting off to a really crummy start. We finally took a vacation and so I did all my miles since Christmas on stationary bikes and elliptical trainers in hotel fitness rooms. Yesterday and today were my first commutes -- first rides -- of 2003. I feel much better now!

I logged about 2400 mostly commuting miles. Not bad for me considering I really started bicycling again in July. Hope to top 5000 in 2003.

2002-5847 miles.2003-189. About 250 miles were done riding in snow or snowy conditions and one white out(very, very heavy snow) I will never forget! Where did that front wheel go Even with goggles I couldn't see the front wheel,This was a scary ride.Yes I did stop to let it pass.
I did 1004 miles before leaving for Afghanistan on April 29th. I'd hoped to do a lot more on the bike - but all things considered 2002 was some year!

I'd like to break 3,000 miles this year (the equivalent of a cross America journey), but this is a tall order. That's 8.3 miles a day, and I only ride 3-4 times a week. It's time to get crankin!

2780 miles - not bad for my first full year cycling, but winter and work commitments at the moment means this years not looking so good at the moment...

Just shy of 12,000 km. More if I count riding to work.
about 1,500 miles, April 2002 was the first time I'd ever ridden a road bike and I fell in love with it right away ;)

Track your miles on www.bikeprolog.com. This free site will even tell you how many calories you burned, and you can put all your mileage numbers into monthly graphs so you can visualize your progress. It's great!
I'd like to do 3,000 miles this year, but my main goal is to do at least six centuries. I have only done 2 centuries in the last 50 years, so this is an ambitious goal.
