So she doesn't know it yet, but my mother in Nashville, TN has one of these on the way to her front door:

A Dahon Helios 8 purchased from the shop I work at here in NYC.
As my mother get's a litte older she's been needing something like this. She's taken to hauling her old Giant hybrid bike into the back of her jeep and taking it to bikepaths and greenways. Hopefully the Dahon will be a little easier for her to load/unload as it folds (obviously) and is probably 10 or so lbs lighter than her current ride.
It kinda sucks being a student, as this now delays my order for a new stumpjumper FSR expert (broke, but priorites still skewed), but if it keeps my mother riding I think it will be worth it.
I was going to get the vitesse for the internal hub, but I've heard bad things about it and the wait time was 6-8 weeks. The MUxl was just a little too pricey and not as light as the Helios. Hopefully she'll love it.
If she doesn't, look for a brand new Helios 8 for sale super cheap.
