I dropped my lock the other day, and because the sides are made of hard plastic, a piece broke off. Do I have to worry about someone picking my lock because of this..?

I'm sure it's fine, but I want to see if this had happened to anyone else.

It's fine. I removed the plastic because it's bulky/annoying and replace it with electrical tape.

The first thing I did to my 2 onguard mini's was to take off
that bulky and stupid looking plastic. I've had no issues what
so ever. The ground did your lock a little favor there.

how'd you guys get the plastic off? hammer and flat head screwdriver?

Pretty much.
I may have used a dremel and/or hacksaw as well.

Basically yeah. I didn't have a hammer at the moment so I used a wrench. You want to seperate the plastic from the metal piece, a bit of prying and a bit of hammering will do so. Once the plastics are removed the metal just slides off.

the plastic bit isn't a problem. the only OnGuard issue I had was my friend's key opens all 3 of our locks...

I wouldn't say this is an OnGuard issue as much as it is just an issue with their mini locks. A friend of mine has the mini, I have a brute mini (old style yellow chunk ), and he also has an old old bulldog. The keys in each of these locks are all different in terms of shape and number of bits. Of the three, the mini had the least number of bits, followed by the old bulldog, then the brute mini. None of our keys can open any of the other locks. Assuming that each of the bits has the same number of possible positions, the mini would have the least possible keys, and hence the greatest chance of someone else's key working in your lock.

that stuff happened to my old lock a big mastiff the end cap split after falling maybe 2 feet onto concrete- its purely cosmetic- i made sure to do a good tight sealing wrap w/ electrical tape to keep it from spinning and from a distance it looks normal- its a bummer but whatever its EUROPEAN!!!...isnt it?- i dunno but i got a mini evo and i absolutely love it- even the plastic is high quality and wont break- onguard's great... just dont drop it.
